my corners

Today I decided to give you a little sneak peek into my world, show you my corners. I am not the type of blogger who sharers personal photos; you won't find any family photos on my blog, even though my children may appear in a photo or two without me mentioning it. In the past I've given sneak peeks into my home but no house tours and I'll stick to that. However, because of the move to Luxembourg I sort of felt that if I didn't show you anything you would maybe get the feeling that I had something to hide, which I don't.

That said, above you have my sitting area, which consists of modern items and thrift shop bought, and below the south side of the house. These are my blogging corners. In good weather I'll probably be sitting on the balcony, under the awning, enjoying a latte and that wonderful view while typing. In cold weather I think I'll be in the sitting area. Well, in this house we'll have a home office but we haven't organised it yet. What I love about this house is that there is nothing in it that bothers me, which is very unusual when you're renting. All the walls and doors had been painted before we moved in and the bathroom and shower on the main floor had been renovated tastefully.

The sitting area still looks a bit empty with nothing on the walls and normally there is a candle on the table and a vase with fresh flowers. The coffee table usually carries more books and magazines but most are still in boxes. All our cushions are still in boxes and I think I'm going to allow myself to buy a new cushion for that chaise lounge. We found the two chairs and the rug in a thrift shop in Antwerp. The rug was always a temporary solution as we simply needed something for the floor but then it just grew on us (hubby and I both spent much time with our grandparents when growing up and the rug reminds us of those moments). Unfortunately, it is too large for our new sitting area so one day we'll have to replace it. The other part of the living room is larger but this rug doesn't work in there. There we have a sofa, a chaise lounge and a foot rest that are modern and grey coloured so a rug like that would be out of place.

Above you see the cherry tree I've told you about, which is no longer blooming. When we viewed the house it had beautiful white blossoms, which I'll definitely share with you next spring. On the side facing south there is a large balcony and I love having a view like that. The window to the left and the French doors under the awning belong to the kitchen and the doors to the right lead into the living room.

We are situated south of Luxembourg City and the train that takes me there in no time stops close by. In the other direction there is a large town, which is the main one of this community. It only takes me 5 minutes to go there. There is a lovely shopping street and the area is really nice.

That was my sneak peek.

I would like to use this opportunity to welcome new followers and thank you all again for kind and encouraging comments. I'm still unpacking. The kitchen boxes are done and what a relief!

Tomorrow I'll announce the second ELLA fragrance giveaway winner and you still have a chance to enter if you are interested in winning a bottle of perfume. Have a wonderful day!

I wouldn't have felt as though you have something to hide... but I'm thankful that you have taken the time to take these pics as I know you'd still be busy organising things! Lucky the kitchen boxes are unpacked. :) x

  11. Boy I'm really behind on what's been happening with everyone. Congrats on your move! Your new home looks lovely and the neighborhood sounds really nice. It's fun to get a little peek at your blogging corners. At least you're done with your kitchen unpacking. That was the most difficult for me cause I have so many small gadgets and spices.

Off to check out this giveaway :)

  12. Merci for letting us have a peek into your corners! I love those muted yet elegant colors, and I love the arrangement of the room - we have a very similar rug (several of them, actually) in our apartment, though ours are in slightly warmer tones as is customary of Armenian/Russian decor.

And that view! Stunning...what a perfect place to start your day with a cup of coffee and a good book.

So happy you've found a great place in your new city!

  16. Beautiful Lisa! I like the simple elegance of your decor. Your home seems uncluttered (I love that!), and looks very comfortable. Such a pretty view and those cherry trees must be gorgeous when blooming.

  17. Lisa, your new home is beautiful. (though I expected nothing less!) And the pieces in your sitting room are lovely—I really like the chairs and the rug.

Also, I am with you on not sharing too much (at this point) –a little instagram here and there, but definitely not too much. There is something to be said for some privacy, however, I loved seeing a bit of your home :)

    Have a great day!

  21. I love the simplicity of your living room - I just knew you'd have the best taste for your home as you do for your blog. How is the life in Luxembourg? I'm a bonafide city girl but seeing all of that green is wonderful. What a nice environment to raise children.
